Pomona railway station
Pomona railway station is located on the North Coast line in Queensland, Australia. It serves the town of Pomona in the Shire of Noosa.
==History==
Pomona railway station opened in 1891 with the opening of the line from Cooran to Cooroy.〔(Town History ) Cooran Connect〕
The station today consists of one platform with a steel shelter. In 2009, the platform was extended with scaffolding and plywood materials.〔(Works commence on North Coast platform extensions ) Queensland Rail 10 August 2009〕 Initially intended as an interim arrangement until a permanent extension was built, the temporary platform remains.〔(Travellers blast lack of funding ) ''Sunshine Coast Daily'' 2 February 2012〕 Opposite the platform lies a passing loop.
The temporary platform was washed away, and had to be rebuilt, following flooding in 2012. The temporary platform remains in a flood-prone location while planning is stalled. Queensland Rail is proposing to close an existing cross-town pedestrian crossing over the North Coast Line linking to the station, forcing pedestrians to make a 400m detour.
